A new artist development program named Elevate has been introduced to support emerging artists in New South Wales by providing them with industry professionals to guide them over a six-month period. The initiative, set to run annually, aims to assist artists in releasing their music and enhancing their careers for long-term success.
The program will select one independent artist each year through a panel of industry experts. The chosen artist will receive comprehensive support in various areas including management, PR, marketing, playlisting, distribution, live performance development, publishing guidance, and legal advice on arts law. The inaugural program in 2025 will start in New South Wales with future plans to extend beyond the state.
Leading industry professionals and collaborators will provide tailored high-impact release plans and professional development for the selected artist. Ben Pierpoint Management and Positive Feedback will focus on management strategies, while The Annex will offer marketing expertise. Golden Hour will provide distribution consultations, Select Music will assist in securing live performance opportunities, and Community Music will handle digital distribution logistics.
Wise Music Australia will offer one-on-one sessions on publishing advice, Dino Dimitriadis will assist in creating compelling live shows, and Creative Lawyers will provide legal expertise on contracts and intellectual property. The program is designed to equip artists with the skills needed to thrive independently in the music industry.
Elevate’s launch comes at a crucial time when artists are facing financial challenges that hinder their ability to dedicate resources to their craft. The program aims to address economic hardships and systemic barriers in the arts industry to create a more equitable environment for artists. Organizers emphasize the importance of fostering independence and resilience among artists to empower them for future success.
To be eligible for the Elevate program, artists must be based in New South Wales, create original music, not have an established industry team, and be ready or nearly ready for a release. The program seeks to champion new voices and encourage collaboration and empowerment within the music community.
Elevate is supported by the Australian Government through Music Australia and Creative Australia, showcasing a commitment to fostering talent and innovation in the arts industry. The program’s mission is to provide emerging artists with the necessary tools and support to navigate the complexities of the music business and establish successful and sustainable careers.
