The Music’s Local Music Journalism Project has unveiled its team of talented journalists from each state in Australia. These journalists are set to dive deep into their local music communities, shedding light on the emerging scenes, artists, venues, and stories that shape the grassroots music landscape.
As the music industry undergoes significant transformations, the spotlight now turns to local communities and initiatives rather than just major corporations. The newly appointed local journalists will play a crucial role in highlighting the stories that resonate within each state.
The Music’s Local Journalism Project, in collaboration with Creative Australia, aims to prioritize hyper-local content to provide a platform for emerging artists and initiatives. By sharing these stories, the project seeks to connect new talents with audiences and support within the music industry.
The selected journalists are gearing up to kickstart their coverage at BIGSOUND, supporting local acts before embarking on their regular reporting duties from September 9 onwards. The project signifies a shift towards community-focused storytelling and the celebration of local music scenes.
Among the journalists is Adele Luamanuvae, a music writer from New South Wales known for her dedication to showcasing Western Sydney’s diverse music scene. Adele’s work with various publications underscores her commitment to championing underrepresented voices in Australian music.
Victoria’s representative, Tyler Jenke, brings a wealth of experience as a music journalist, author, lecturer, and musician. With a background in music publication and academia, Tyler’s multifaceted approach to music journalism reflects a deep passion for the industry.
Tione Zylstra, based in Queensland, has made a mark as a music journalist and editor, contributing to various platforms and publications. Her diverse content creation across different genres highlights her versatility and dedication to promoting music culture.
