Four local musicians from Geelong are gearing up to release new tracks after months of intense industry mentoring. Tonite, Madeliene Cope, Emilia Fol, and FARAH will showcase their music at the GRID Series Geelong Release Party, set to take place on May 1st at the Geelong Arts Centre’s Open House.
These emerging talents will perform for a hometown crowd of music enthusiasts, industry professionals, and VIPs alongside their GRID team of producers and mentors. To complement their new releases, documentaries detailing each artist’s unique journey and personal stories will be premiered at the event.
FARAH will debut ‘Gasoline’, a poignant track that delves into themes of grief and self-reclamation, accompanied by a narrated short film. Madeliene Cope will unveil ‘Everlast’, a reflective piece on love and moving forward, supported by a cinematic short film shot along the coastline. Tonite returns with ‘Breathe’, an experimental hip-hop exploration of human experiences, while Emilia Fol presents ‘Viper’, a fusion of Spanish folk, soul, and psychedelic rock.
The GRID Series empowers early career artists by offering mentoring, collaboration with producers, recording sessions, performance opportunities, and the creation of short film documentaries. Supported by the Victorian Government and the City of Greater Geelong, the initiative has provided a platform for these musicians to flourish.
Industry stalwarts like Joel Ma, Beatrice, and Anthony Liddell have mentored the artists, shaping their new releases. Minister for Creative Industries Colin Brooks commends the talent emerging from Geelong, emphasizing the importance of supporting local creatives. Member for Geelong, Christine Couzens, congratulates the musicians on their upcoming performance and the State Government’s support for the GRID Series.
Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj OAM expresses excitement for the artists’ progress and the local music scene’s vibrancy. The Geelong Arts Centre will host the release party, showcasing the growth and talent of these emerging musicians. GRID Series Managing Director Ariel Blum praises Geelong’s music community and the boundless talent it harbors.
This event not only celebrates the artists’ achievements but also signifies a promising future for the local music scene. As Geelong continues to nurture its musical talent, these four musicians are poised to make their mark on the Australian music landscape.
