Apple Music recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by unveiling a new 15,000-square-foot studio in Culver City, California. The three-story studio is part of Apple’s global initiative to support artists and enhance the relationship between artists and fans. This new studio, set to open in mid-August, will feature Spatial Audio suites, soundstages, and creative labs aimed at fostering creativity and storytelling through immersive experiences.
In a press release, Rachel Newman, co-head of Apple Music, emphasized the studio’s role in providing a space for artists to create, connect, and share their vision. The facility will house radio suites, a live soundstage, a mixing room with advanced audio equipment, photo and social media labs, editing suites, and private booths for various creative activities such as songwriting, podcasting, and interviews.
Designed by architect Eric Owen Moss, the studio reflects Apple Music’s commitment to supporting artists and promoting creative collaboration. It is part of Apple’s larger strategy to integrate streaming services with content production and distribution. The studio in Culver City will be a flagship location, with plans for similar hubs in New York and London, as well as existing sites in Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, and Nashville.
This move by Apple Music signals a shift towards providing hands-on support for artists in addition to music distribution. By offering resources for content creation and artist development, Apple aims to deepen its engagement with the global creative community. The studio will also feature special programming with hosts like Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, celebrating the origins of Apple Music Radio and showcasing the platform’s top-streamed songs.
Apple’s investment in physical studios underscores the company’s dedication to expanding its role beyond streaming services. As the competition in the music streaming industry grows fiercer, Apple’s strategy highlights its commitment to fostering creativity and strengthening relationships with artists worldwide. By creating spaces that blend technology with artistic expression, Apple Music aims to redefine the boundaries of traditional music distribution.
The studio’s launch marks a significant milestone for Apple Music as it embarks on a new chapter of innovation and collaboration. Through this initiative, Apple is not only celebrating a decade of streaming success but also laying the foundation for a more immersive and interactive music experience for artists and listeners alike.
