Gracie Abrams and All-Female Team to Be Honored by She Is The Music

Gracie Abrams, along with her all-female team, has been selected as honorees by She Is The Music, an organization dedicated to empowering women in the music industry. The prestigious recognition will be part of the Women Sharing the Spotlight event, scheduled for March 27 at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles. In a bid to promote inclusivity, She Is The Music will also acknowledge the contributions of 50 other influential women across diverse sectors within the music realm. Furthermore, as a testament to the organization’s commitment to fostering support and solidarity among women in the industry, each of the 50 honorees will shine a light on another woman in the field.

Gracie Abrams expressed her gratitude for the acknowledgment, emphasizing the transformative power of collaboration with talented and supportive women. She highlighted the importance of mutual encouragement and learning within her team. The event will not only celebrate Abrams and her team but will also underscore the significance of women uplifting each other to drive positive change in the music landscape.

Renowned artist and co-founder of She Is The Music, Alicia Keys, commended Gracie Abrams and her team for exemplifying the strength that arises when women empower one another. Keys underscored the importance of women taking the lead and breaking barriers in an industry where female-led teams are not yet the norm. The event will feature the presentation of Barbie’s Career of the Year: Women In Music dolls to each honoree, symbolizing the visibility and recognition of women’s roles in music.

Jody Gerson, Chairman/CEO of Universal Music Publishing Group and co-founder of She Is The Music, emphasized the organization’s core mission of women supporting women. She highlighted the significance of creating a network of accomplished women and nurturing future generations of female professionals in the music sector. The event aims to celebrate the achievements of women in the industry, with a special focus on Gracie Abrams and her team as embodiments of collaborative spirit and success.

The event will also shed light on key insights from the recently released “Inclusion in the Music Business” report, a collaborative effort between USC Annenberg’s Inclusion Initiative, Believe, and TuneCore. The report revealed stark disparities in gender and racial representation at the executive level of major music companies, emphasizing the need for greater diversity and inclusivity in leadership roles. TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson and USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative founder Dr. Stacy L. Smith will present the report’s findings, advocating for proactive measures to address these discrepancies and foster a more inclusive music industry.

The Women Sharing the Spotlight event stands as a beacon of empowerment, recognition, and advocacy for gender equality in the music industry. It serves as a platform to amplify the voices and achievements of women while calling for systemic changes to ensure a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive music landscape for future generations.
