Applications are now being accepted for the Sound States Mentoring Program in 2025, a prestigious music management initiative based in Western Australia. Presented by 360 Artist Logistics, this program is tailored for emerging artist managers and self-managed artists, offering them valuable insights, skills, and networking opportunities crucial for steering their careers in the music industry.
Scheduled to take place over three days from July 30th to August 1st at the State Library of Western Australia, Sound States aims to empower participants with a hands-on approach to navigating the music industry independently, bypassing traditional barriers. Now in its fifth year, the program boasts a stellar lineup of mentors who have carved their own paths to success, establishing their fan base and careers from scratch.
During the program, 15 selected applicants will engage in panel discussions and networking sessions, gaining practical knowledge from independent managers, self-managed artists, publicists, booking agents, tax experts, radio producers, and more. This unique opportunity is offered at no cost to successful applicants, with a special provision for three positions reserved for participants from regional areas.
Reflecting on their experience with Sound States, participants have highlighted the program’s role in instilling confidence and a sense of belonging within the music industry. Donna Albertini, manager of Yomi Ship, emphasized the inclusivity of the program, noting that it reaffirmed her career trajectory and provided a supportive community facing similar challenges. Similarly, Grace Newtown-Wordsworth from Joan & The Giants commended the program for shedding light on the industry’s realities, dispelling the notion of success being solely attributed to luck. The insights gained from Sound States have propelled participants to set goals, secure grants, release music, and enhance their branding and social media presence.
As the application deadline approaches on March 29th, aspiring artist managers and self-managed artists are encouraged to seize this opportunity to gain valuable industry insights and forge meaningful connections. With Sound States’ track record of nurturing talent and fostering a supportive environment for music professionals, the program stands as a beacon of opportunity for those looking to navigate the complexities of the music industry with confidence and expertise.
