The Western Australian State Government has announced a significant boost to the local music industry through a $2.75 million Live Music Support Package as part of the 2025-26 State Budget. This funding aims to enhance the State’s creative industries and contribute to the economic diversification strategy of Western Australia.
As part of the Live Music Support Package, $1.5 million will be allocated to the Contemporary Music Fund to assist local bands in touring both interstate and overseas. Additionally, $750,000 will go towards the creation of a WA Gig Guide, while $500,000 will support WA Music Week and WAMFest.
The collaboration between WAM, RTRFM, and the State Government will result in the development of a WA Gig Guide, offering a comprehensive resource for live music venues across Western Australia. The Contemporary Music Fund will provide financial support to local bands and artists for recording, production, promotion, as well as business development and mentoring.
Furthermore, a $75,000 contribution will be made to RTRFM for the refurbishment of their studios in Mount Lawley, including the replacement of essential transmitters. These investments form part of the State Government’s broader strategy to boost the creative industries and foster local talent.
